Aluminium frame & threshold repairs

Loose mullions, failed seals, damaged thresholds and leaking frames.

Aluminium shopfront frame repair deals with the structure that holds the glass and doors — mullions, transoms, sills, thresholds and the seals between them. Faults include frames pulling away from the building, water getting in at joints and sills, and thresholds that have become a trip hazard.

What does aluminium frame & threshold repairs cover?

  • Mullions and transoms that have loosened or moved
  • Leaking corner joints, sills and perimeter seals
  • Damaged or lifting door thresholds
  • Missing or perished glazing gaskets and beads
  • Corroded fixings and cover caps

How do I know I need it?

  • Water marks or puddles inside the shopfront
  • Gaps between the frame and the wall
  • A raised or loose door threshold
  • Glass moving in the frame

How is the repair carried out?

We re-fix frames into sound structure, reseal joints and perimeters with suitable sealants, and replace gaskets so the glass is held firmly. Threshold repairs aim to keep the entrance level for wheelchair and pushchair access.

Questions about aluminium frame & threshold repairs

Why is water getting in through my shopfront?

Usually failed perimeter sealant, open corner joints, blocked drainage slots in the sill or perished gaskets. We trace the route of the water before resealing.

Can a damaged threshold be replaced on its own?

In most shopfronts, yes. The threshold is a separate section and can be replaced without removing the door frame.

Is my old shopfront frame worth repairing?

If the aluminium itself is sound, resealing and new gaskets can give it many more years. Badly corroded or distorted frames are better replaced.
