Laminated & security glass upgrades
Replace plain or toughened panes with laminated glass that holds together under attack.
A security glass upgrade replaces existing shopfront panes with laminated glass — two or more sheets bonded with a tough interlayer. When struck, the glass cracks but stays in the frame, which slows down forced entry and stops the opening from being left wide open after an attack.

What does laminated & security glass upgrades cover?
- Upgrading repeat-target display windows
- Laminated glass in doors and side screens
- Thicker multi-layer laminates for higher-risk premises
- Matching new laminated panes into existing frames
- Re-beading frames so the thicker glass is held securely
How do I know I need it?
- The shop has been broken into through the glass before
- High-value stock is visible from the street
- Your insurer has asked about glazing security
- Neighbouring units have suffered break-ins
How is the repair carried out?
We check that your existing frame can carry the weight and thickness of the laminated glass you choose, and whether new beads or gaskets are needed. Upgrades can be done pane by pane, starting with the most exposed windows.
Questions about laminated & security glass upgrades
Is laminated glass unbreakable?
No glass is unbreakable. Laminated glass is designed to crack but stay in one piece, so it takes far longer to get through and the shop stays closed while you arrange a replacement.
Can laminated glass go into my existing shopfront frame?
Usually, provided the frame's glazing pocket accepts the thicker glass. We check this on survey; if it does not, beads or gaskets can often be changed rather than replacing the frame.
Does security glass reduce my insurance premium?
Some insurers take glazing security into account, but that is their decision. We can give you the glass specification in writing to pass on.
